Morrison Foerster received two awards at the 21st annual Asian Legal Business (ALB) Japan Awards 2025, including being named as the “International Deal Firm of Year” and “Legal Business, Japan Law Awards, TMT Firm of the Year.” The awards honor the achievements of Japan’s leading private practice law firms, in-house teams, and individual practitioners.
MoFo’s Tokyo team was honored for its prolific dealmaking work in the past year, which included advising SoftBank on a series of significant investments in OpenAI, the world’s leading artificial intelligence research and development company, and advising Sekisui House, Ltd. (“Sekisui House”) on its $4.9 billion acquisition of M.D.C. Holdings, Inc. (“MDC”), a large U.S. homebuilder listed on the NYSE.
In addition to receiving the two awards, MoFo was also a finalist in 15 other firm and deal categories.
As one of the preeminent law firms in Asia, MoFo provides integrated local and international law advice. The Tokyo office is one of the largest international firms in Japan, with approximately 100 U.S., UK, and Japanese lawyers who team with the firm’s global network to advise on Japan’s most significant inbound and outbound transactions, investigations, and disputes.
MoFo’s success at the ALB Japan Law Awards follows several recent honors received by the Tokyo team, including being named Japan International Law Advisers of the Year by Chambers Asia-Pacific.
